"Semantic Mark-Up and Single Source Publishing: XML Opens Doors"
XML is a standard, though there is good XML and poor XML. Rich mark-up can significantly enhance learning materials and make very effective use of the current delivery environments. Poor mark-up requires continuous improvement and can cost more to use that optimised proprietary formats.
This workshop looked at XML and the DTDs that support good mark-up – focussing on the DocBook DTD, which has a very large user base and hence many tools available for its deployment. During the workshop, the management and rendering of standards based XML was demonstrated using Courseworker. |
